No news on whether Stuff will replace their Southern Lakes journalist
Debbie Jamieson has left Stuff to work for MP Joseph Mooney
We checked in with Stuff this week to see if they would join the ever decreasing presence of mainstream media in the Southern Lakes and Central Otago.
Their long serving correspondent Debbie Jamieson has resigned and now works with local MP Jospeh Mooney in his electorate office.
Here’s what we’ve been told.
“We haven't yet made a decision about replacing one of our reporters who recently resigned from our Otago/Southland team.
“We are very proud to have more expert journalists on the ground in more places than any other media company in the country, and each time a vacancy opens up we think carefully about the skills we need and where we need them.
“We will keep our audiences up to date as we make new hires.”
Joanna Norris - MD Stuff Masthead Publishing.
So we’ll take that as a “no” for the time being, but we enjoyed working with Debbie and her departure from journalism is just another example of the crisis facing the NZ news industry.
