Here's the full statement from Deputy Mayor Quentin Smith.
“It’s been an honour to represent Wānaka–Upper Clutha for the past nine years, and—voters willing—I hope to continue that journey,” said Smith. “It’s a tough job at times, but it’s one I believe in and genuinely enjoy. I value engaging with the community and representing their interests around the Council table.”
“These are uncertain times—both locally and globally—but I remain committed to doing my part to ensure our infrastructure, environment, and community services keep pace. That requires a strategic, well-informed, and above all, engaged approach.”
When asked about the mayoralty, Smith said: “I haven’t ruled out a mayoral campaign. I’ll wait to see how things unfold and plan to make a call in late July.”
I would have Quentin any day before Glyn and that disappointment still believes he gets another go! Mr Cox has supported Theelen’s 15% salary rise, he should lose the vote and Barry Bruce won’t get mine again either after his comments. That madam Megan scaring councillors, I would like her investigated now, she and 600 employees might all have to reapply for a job and.
Councillors will have to get it together to get rid of the present CEO… in time
Really? The same people again and again? Look at where they have taken us. We don't need more of the same, we need change. Vote change. Folk who have already had 9 years or so on council should realize that they have failed on a number of significant major issues. Time to move on and put up a fresh new team to improve things.
