The Friday Edition - call for halt to all Queenstown development as sewage crisis deepens
QLDC maintains stonewall silence.
It’s a full Friday Edition today with the dramatic news that deputy mayor Quentin Smith and Queenstown ORC councillor Alexa Forbes have both declared their support for a halt on commercial and residential development until the Shotover sewage plant is fixed. We’ve also discovered that QLDC instead of fronting up and answering key questions about the sewage failure have simply hired more global consultants in October last year - our report provides some details and it does not look good. Plus we have a string of leaked emails showing that ORC councillors aren’t happy with their own staff apparently blocking sewage crisis details from the media.
We also ask which of local MP Joseph Mooney or Mayor Glyn Lewers is the most ineffective and invisible. Who gets your vote?
Finally we visit the $128 million “road to nowhere” construction site as the glittering gala opening on January 30 approaches. Is everybody nervous? You bet! We’ve not been invited so we have mocked up what we think the invitation would look like.
Thanks beyond words to all of our paid subscribers. You mean the world to us. Not a paid subscriber? Come and join us today - for the sake of tomorrow.
